Ingredients

  • 4 cups Coca-Cola chilled and fully carbonated
  • 2 tsp citrus zest lemon or lime zest for brightness
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed for tang
  • optional sugar syrup if extra sweetness is desired

Equipment

  • Freezer
  • Blender or Spoon

Method

  1. Pour the Coca-Cola into a large, shallow dish or baking tray, then sprinkle with citrus zest and stir in lemon juice. This helps distribute the bright flavors evenly before freezing.
  2. Place the dish in the freezer uncovered, and let it sit for about 4 hours, occasionally stirring to break up ice crystals and promote even freezing.
  3. Once fully frozen into a slushy consistency, remove from the freezer. If it's too hard, let it sit at room temperature for a minute to soften slightly.
  4. Use a spoon or blender to break the frozen mixture into smaller chunks or a smooth, crush-like texture, depending on your preference. Pulse until well combined if using a blender.
  5. Taste the slushie and add a splash of lemon juice or a drizzle of simple syrup if you'd like it sweeter or more citrusy, then give it one last blend or stir.
  6. Serve the citrus-infused Coca-Cola slushie immediately in glasses. Optionally, garnish with a twist of citrus peel or a straw for a fun presentation.

Notes

For extra fizz, add a splash of club soda before serving. Adjust citrus amounts to taste. Best enjoyed fresh for maximum crunch.
