Blueberry Slushie

This blueberry slushie is a chilled beverage made by blending fresh blueberries with ice, citrus juice, and a pinch of salt until smooth and icy. The final texture is vibrant, slightly crunchy from the ice, and refreshingly cool, with a bright purple hue and lively flavor balance.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries washed
  • 1 cup ice cubes roughly crushed
  • 1/4 cup fresh citrus juice lemon or lime
  • 1 pinch sea salt to enhance flavor
  • optional honey or agave syrup to sweeten if desired

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Add the blueberries, ice cubes, citrus juice, and salt into your blender.
  2. Secure the lid and start blending on low speed, gradually increasing to high, until the mixture looks vibrant and is starting to clump around the blades.
  3. Blend for about 30-45 seconds, or until the slushie is smooth, icy, and has a slightly thick, spoonable texture.
  4. Stop the blender and taste the slushie. Add honey or agave syrup if you'd like it sweeter, then pulse a few times to incorporate.
  5. Pour the slushie into chilled glasses, watching the bright purple color swirl around as you serve.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of lime if desired, then serve immediately for the best icy texture.

Notes

For an extra tart kick, add more citrus or a splash of tonic water for sparkle. Adjust the sweetness to taste, and experiment with different berries or flavor add-ins.
